講座摘要:
The quantification of plant traits using remote sensing methods has greatly improved crop management. Recent improvements in technology and software both in the field and in the lab have greatly enhanced phenotyping for agricultural applications. The traditional method of image-based plant phenotyping relies on robust image segmentation methods. Similarly, geographic object-based image analysis has approached the characterization of vegetation in much the same way but from an opposing scale, the plant communities. Parallel analytical workflows in these communities offer a framework for cross-fertilization of technique development. In this talk I will explain the concept of Geographic Object-Based Image Analysis, provide a case study for its application, and conclude with a comparison of the two fields with the goal of identifying key challenges that might best benefit from collaboration between these two disciplines.
